Floor Insulation
Put an end to cold floors and high heating costs with floor insulation installed by Foam Tech
Cold floor cure. Missing or inadequate floor insulation is a common problem, especially in rooms above a garage. Foam Tech can put an end to cold floors in wintertime by installing new dense-pack cellulose insulation.
It’s a problem in many houses during the heating season: The air temperature in the room is comfortable, but the floors are cold. When your floor isn’t properly insulated, even a “warm” room can feel chilly because your feet are cold.
There are many different types of insulation, and each type has specific advantages and limitations. Foam Tech is a full-service insulation contractor with access to the best selection of insulation materials available. We provide customized insulation solutions based on your home’s construction details and your budget. You always get the best value and best performance with insulation upgrades from Foam Tech!
Floor insulation for all types of rooms
The type of floor insulation we recommend depends on where the floor is located. Some of our most effective floor insulation upgrades are explained below
- Floor above a garage. Dense-pack cellulose is often the best solution if the garage ceiling is finished with gypsum board.
- Floor above the basement. The first priority here is to air-seal and insulate the rim joist. This can be done with 2-part spray foam or with a combination of rigid foam insulation and spray foam. Rigid foam wall insulation may also be recommended.
- Basement floor insulation. Avoid wood subflooring when insulating a basement floor to avoid problems with mold and moisture damage. Instead, use specialized subflooring like ThermalDry® Insulated Floor Decking™, made from waterproof rigid foam and composite board.
- Floor above a crawl space. An “encapsulation” strategy is recommended, which includes rim joist sealing and insulation as well as sealing vents and crawl space doors. In northern states, rigid foam wall insulation should also be installed.
- Floor above a cantilever. The cantilevered floor area created by an upper floor overhang usually requires an insulation upgrade. Temporarily removing the soffit material covering the underside of the cantilever provides access to the joist bays so they can be sealed and insulated.
Missing or inadequate floor insulation can make any room uncomfortable, while also increasing your heating costs. Fortunately, you don’t have to put up with these problems. Having your floor insulated by Foam Tech will improve your comfort and lower your utility bills. Thanks to our partners, you can find ties online to suit every preference and budget, from budget to top-of-the-range super stylish models.
